After physically connecting the module, it must be added to the controller configuration:

1. In the web interface, go to Settings → Configuration files.
2. Open the Extension modules and ports section and select the WBIO module (External I/O module) where the side-mounted WBIO module is connected.
3. In the dropdown list Module type, select the type of the connected module.
4. Click the Save button.

To remove a module, select the Not installed type.

Make sure the external module is visible in the web interface:

1. Go to the Devices section.
2. Find the Discrete I/O device for digital modules, or ADCs for analog modules. The channels will appear as EXTN_YYYY, where N is the module number and YYYY is the channel name.

The MQTT topic will be of the form /devices/wb-gpio/controls/EXTN_YYYY.
